What would Obama gain from a socialist United States?

There are many wild claims about Obama's agenda, but the one thing they always leave out is motive. What would Obama gain from a socialist United States? What did Hitler have to gain from a socialist Germany?

What did Lenin have to gain from a socialist Russia?

What did Castro have to gain from a socialist Cuba?

Never underestimate the allure of personal power. What would Obama gain from a socialist United States?
powerWhat would Obama gain from a socialist United States?POWER
King for Life? Power, fame...why do all despots do what they do?What would Obama gain from a socialist United States?good point. What would Obama gain from a socialist United States?
Power and money. Where do you think most of the money is going to? Instead of asking, do your research!
There is no logical motive of course. Not to mention that there is no way that one man, or five, or ten, could just "turn" our country socialist and do away with our Constitution. It's hysteria at its worst. What would Obama gain from a socialist United States?
The only thing socialist/marxists crave...POWER and CONTROL.
Green jobs for Acorn.
Socialists believe that their system of government is better than a more free society. They believe that centralized control can direct progress better than a more open and natural system.

What would he have to gain personally? Probably nothing, but his books have made him millions, he gains from himself, he is a marketable commodity. So if he transforms the US into a more socialist country and progress comes from it, he can further market his own image.

Socialists believe the free market is corrupt and that only with state-controlled enterprise can the corruption be purged from the system. If Obama believes this, then he believes he is doing good by transforming away from a free market. Perhaps he's just a do-gooder who is naive.
He is power hungry and would feed that hunger.
Obama is clearly a power-hungry, sub-human, Nazi Communist [sic]. He obviously wants to take over the world eventually. I hope this answers your question.

Power. In a socialism system, the elite class has all of the power and almost no one can ever challenge them on it.
Power.

An Elitist Despot needs power to dictate all aspects of a society.

As an Elitist, he KNOWS all his actions will be for the best of his friends and humanity in general. That justifies all he may do to harm individuals and suppress liberty and freedom.
You have to understand that Socialism is only a stepping stone to dictatorial rule.
Control and Power to push his own personal agenda any way he wants. If we become socialist he can do away with term limits. No one needs that amount of power over so many people ever.
Every person who aspires to leadership must possess a strong Ego.

We keep ending up with leaders who have LARGE Egos.

What is his motivation?....Ego. A massive Ego, larger than all outdoors.
In this interesting video from MSNBC this morning, Arianna Huffington and Ron Paul both agreed this is not socialism, but is not capitalism either. It is oligopoly (government by the few for the few) or corporatism.

It would Gain more People who are Civilized to Follow and You can't will be Left Behind, Including the Tea Party Protesters, they have lost Respect for America, That's Sad.
Lots of votes.
liberalism does not equal socialism

socialism does not equal communism

communism does not equal facism

obama isnt even a liberal, hes centre right and pro business, you are all so brain washed you even believe the media is liberal, look out of your window at the world once in a while to get some perspective, their are plenty of countries far more to the left that are not even liberal, you are all so far to the right to begin with, any debate has become twisted, relax, take a deep breath and stop being angry for a minute and youll see it
More people dependent on government help means more votes for politicians who are in favor of keeping said government help in place. Anyone who is against continuing or expanding the entitlements will not be able to win an election. Incumbent politicians do not risk real reform of entitlements, and just leave the cost for the next generation of people and politicians.

Although the US is far away from this scenario, there are signs we are closer to it than we were 50 years ago. Bush tried to reform Social Security and Obama (and the last 7 or so Presidents) is trying to reform government health care. Whatever you think of either's efforts, what's interesting is that there is always massive opposition to limiting entitlements, and it's growing.
He gains nothing.

I wonder how many brainwashed cons are going to say: POWER!
Beren-well said.

Obviously many cons don't know what socialism is.
I don't support those claims about Obama's "socialist agenda" but it would be power.
i dunoo
Obama is already famous. And he cannot extend his power unconstitutionally, even if you could prove that power is what he wants.

So they fail at every step in providing a motive.

@howwouldheknow: Hitler was rightwing (but I will play along), but what would he have to gain? Why did he invade almost all of Europe? Why hasn't Obama invaded the rest of the world? Do you have any evidence that he is planning to?

As far as Lenin goes, all he had to work with was a feudal monarchy. And who is to say that Lenin was the oppressor. You confuse Stalin with Lenin.

Castro is well liked in Cuba. I know that pisses you off but such is the case. He may have been about power but what has that gotten him but the derision of much of the Western world? Not much POWER to be had there.
Exactly right! Which is why I scratch my head every time I hear some neocon squeal "Obama's gonna destroy Americaaaaaa!" What's in it for him? What's the motive? What's the point?

Now... GW Bush? We KNOW what his motive was. Money! And he got it, by the bus-load!
It does not work like that.
