What good reason do people have for thinking Obama will take away their guns?

Do you have an instance where Obama said that he would ?

Do you have votes from him in the Senate that would indicate such ?

Anything at all ?

Please start posting links and referencing.

And remember, I asked for a GOOD reason.|||In March 2004, the Illinois Senate passed Senate Bill 2165, a law introduced in response to DeMar's case, with provisions designed to assert a right of citizens to protect themselves against home invasions, such that self-defense requirements would be viewed to take precedence over local ordinances against handgun possession. The measure passed the Illinois Senate by a vote of 38-20. Barack Obama was one of the 20 state senators voting against the measure.

Obama was being misleading when he denied that his handwriting had been on a document endorsing a state ban on the sale and possession of handguns in Illinois. Obama responded, “No, my writing wasn’t on that particular questionnaire. As I said, I have never favored an all-out ban on handguns.”

Actually, Obama’s writing was on the 1996 document, which was filed when Obama was running for the Illinois state Senate. A Chicago nonprofit, Independent Voters of Illinois, had this question, and Obama took hard line:

35. Do you support state legislation to:

a. ban the manufacture, sale and possession of handguns? Yes.

b. ban assault weapons? Yes.

c. mandatory waiting periods and background checks? Yes.

Obama’s campaign said, “Sen. Obama didn’t fill out these state Senate questionnaires--a staffer did--and there are several answers that didn’t reflect his views then or now. He may have jotted some notes on the front page of the questionnaire, but some answers didn’t reflect his views.”

hahahahaha love the thumbs down for providing the answer to the question. You just "can't HANDLE the TRUTH"|||Anybody that has ever actually looked at his voting record, or his personal statements knows that he wants to. You could have the information on your own in 5 minutes if you weren't lazy.|||I think Obama runs his Presidency by polls.

Many left wing ah people are making a lot of noise about gun control after a rash of idiots killed people with guns.

They don't stop to think that criminals and crazy people don't follow laws.|||His voting record as a senator.|||He cannot proceed with his plans with an armed nation.|||His voting record. Although I agree that he won't go after guns, but ammunition. Like having a car with no gas.|||Two HUGE reasons-

Joe Biden ("assault weapons" ban author)

Eric "the gun grabber" Holder...

You do your own research-it's good for the brain...|||This question is somewhat of a red herring. Obama wouldn't directly take away 2nd amendment rights... he even made a half- hearted statement in favor of last year's SCOTUS decision that the right to bear arms includes the right to bear arms. But Obama wouldn't make that decision. The SCOTUS would. And their vote was 5-4. Do you think after Obama gets through 1-2 term(s) filling any SCOTUS vacancies that if they did a re-vote on such a decision it would still be 5-4? Of course not. It will be 4-5 or even 3-6 depending on what happens. And people know this.|||Look at his record in Illinois. They won't try to take them all at once. Just one at a time. First the big scary assault weapons. Then the semi autos, then pumps. So on and so forth.|||Do you have an instance where Obama said that he would ?

Do you have votes from him in the Senate that would indicate such ?

Barack Obama on Gun Control

http://www.ontheissues.org/domestic/Bara…

Opposed bill okaying illegal gun use in home invasions

FactCheck: Yes, Obama endorsed Illinois handgun ban

Respect 2nd Amendment, but local gun bans ok

2000: cosponsored bill to limit purchases to 1 gun per month

Ban semi-automatics, and more possession restrictions

Principles that Obama supports on gun issues:

Ban the sale or transfer of all forms of semi-automatic weapons.

Increase state restrictions on the purchase and possession of firearms.

Require manufacturers to provide child-safety locks with firearms.

Source: 1998 IL State Legislative National Political Awareness Test Jul 2, 1998|||Examples of conservative media figures advancing this claim include:

On the November 7, 2008, broadcast of his nationally syndicated show, conservative radio host Lars Larson said of Obama: "I'm worried that when he starts naming people to the court, when that -- when that happens, and it's likely to during his administration, we're going to end up with justices who think they can break free of the constraints of the Constitution -- perhaps on the Second Amendment, one of my favorites." Larson later read a letter from a listener stating, "Lars, I've always said that if the gun-grabbers come to my front door and demand my guns due to some unconstitutional law being passed by the loony lefties in Washington, D.C., I'll have no choice but to hand them over. However, they will receive all of my ammunition first, all of it, just as fast as I can possibly give it to them."

On December 4, 2008, after a caller stated that "gun manufacturers" would be able to raise prices during the economic crisis, Milwaukee radio host Mark Belling responded, "Well, OK. You're right about that. Everybody's buying guns before Obama comes in and outlaws them all."

On the February 11 broadcast of ABC Radio Networks' The Sean Hannity Show, conservative columnist Ann Coulter said, "[B]y the way, the NRA also has information on how they [the Obama administration] are going to be expanding the concept of national parks to include, you know, highways running from Rhode Island to Virginia. National parks have gun bans imposed throughout." She then stated of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, "This bill is so much worse than earmarks and pork. This is a total government takeover, and Big Brother coming in and taking our guns and schools and doctors." Host Sean Hannity responded, in part: "All right. Let me -- Pat, let's -- lest those out there on the left think Ann Coulter is paranoid -- let's look at this. We've got the Democrats now want to politicize the census by moving it into Rahm -- Rahmbo [White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel], deadfish -- Emanuel's hands."

On the April 7 edition of Salem Radio Network's The Mike Gallagher Show, host Mike Gallagher discussed an exchange between the Second Amendment Foundation's Alan Gottlieb and MSNBC anchor David Shuster on the April 6 edition of Hardball. Gallagher stated, "Now listen to the way Gottlieb does a great job in explaining logically why people are worried about what the Obama administration wants to do with our guns," then aired a clip in which Shuster asked Gottlieb, "Do you believe that the Obama administration and the Feds are coming to take away everybody's guns?" Gottlieb replied, "I believe that's what they would like to do. I don't think we're going to let them get away with it." Gallagher later stated, "[L]isten to the way Gottlieb leaves the liberal columnist stuttering and stammering, explaining very eloquently why so many of us are worried and scurrying to buy guns right now." He then aired a clip from the same Hardball segment in which New York Times columnist Charles Blow asked Gottlieb, "And we should confront that fear with guns?" and Gottlieb responded in part: "[I]f you think the government might take your rights away from you, you want to try and exercise them before that happens. It's a normal reaction."

Gallagher went on to propose "a national movement to register as many people as we can ... to become gun owners." He elaborated: "We're going to set up a website, we're going to get listener participation on this, we're going to register and create as many gun owners -- new, first-time gun owners as possible. I don't even want to set a number. I'm number one -- I'll be the first one." He later added, "We're going to start a movement on The Mike Gallagher Show and register as many people as possible to become legitimate, lawful, law-abiding gun owners for the first time. We'll set up a site, we'll have you sign on, we'll figure out a way to verify it, just so we can, you know, confirm the number, and get as many people as possible to register and become first-time gun owners."|||Illinois — the land of Obama and the Blagojevich mafia — is serious about making the Second Amendment so expensive only the rich will be able to exercise it. Kenneth Dunkin, a former social worker and Democrat member of the Illinois House of Representatives, has introduced HB0687, entitled the “Firearm Owners ID-Insurance” bill. It is currently in the Rules Committee.

Dunkin’s bill amends the Firearm Owners Identification Card Act, a previous bill aimed at chipping away at the Second Amendment. Dunkin’s amendment states “that any person who owns a firearm in this State shall maintain a policy of liability insurance in the amount of at least $1,000,000 specifically covering any damages resulting from negligent or willful acts involving the use of such firearm while it is owned by such person.”

How many people do you know who can afford a $1,000,000.00 liability insurance policy? In addition, not ONE single company writes such a policy.

http://illinoiscarry.com/forum/index.php…|||Obama doesn't have to take away our guns; he's smart enough not to face the wrath of the voter.

HOWEVER, Obama is still a left wing nutjob and hates guns. With that being said, his plan is more insidious and long term. Obama will simply make guns more expensive to own by regulation and keep away from legislation.

Obama discussed a 500% tax increase on ammo

Obama signed an executive order three weeks ago banning the military from selling used ammo brass causing a HUGE spike in the price of certain calibers in just two weeks.

Now for the conjecture. I believe Obama will simply allow firearms/ammo manufacturers to be sued when their product is used in the commission of a crime. This will force American companies to go out of business and increase the costs to a point where only the very rich will be able to buy ammo/parts/firearms.|||He has no reason, other than to disarm us, and pave the way for one world order. Check out Alex Jones|||Proof Obama wants to take your guns.

http://www.ontheissues.org/2008/barack_o…|||look at his cabinet, chief of staff, atty. general ,look at his bowing down to the foreign governments and obama still having hard time accepting supreme court ruling|||http://axisofright.com/2008/06/29/where-…|||You act sooo Up To Date and political...well obviously you should watch the News....it teaches a lot, like News on Obama and his decisions....kind of like the one on Gun Control.

He states "common sense" (same phrase used by Sarah Brady and HCI) but they decide what makes sense.

His senate record is to vote present or go on the campaign trail.

So far no specific legislation is pending that I am aware of. His administration has said they want to bring back the Clinton gun ban.

They use the excuse of the problem in Mexico. Sure, restricting law abiding Americans will prevent millionaire drug cartels from getting guns.

I myself do not trust any of the liberals and especially their leader.|||He is not going to but Gunsters, like christians, cant survive without a bit of persecution.|||Instead of me doing your research, go and look up obama's voting record for the state senate of Illinois, then look at his voting record while a senator in Washington DC. After doing that, you get back to me. I am sure you will then understand why our concern is valid.|||Because he is a puppet of the far left %26amp; they want guns to go. Congress will pass the bill %26amp; he will sign it.|||http://www.ontheissues.org/2008/Barack_O…

1. Obama supported the Chicago handgun ban.

2. "I believe in keeping guns out of our inner cities, and that our leaders must say so in the face of the gun manfuacturer’s lobby." This is a quote from his own book "The Audacity of Hope".

These two reasons alone should give people concern about his intentions on banning guns.|||Outside of Beck, Limbaugh, and the NRA's repeated rants on the subject, no reason at all.|||None, until the shooting rampages began.|||He's got their money, what would he want with their guns?|||a m radio, nuff said|||Biggest Political Myths In America:

-Democrats are hell-bent on taking away your guns

-Republicans will do everything in their power to make poor people miserable

-Just getting rid of pork barrel spending will balance our budget

-We are entitled to have more government services without paying more taxes

-No matter how high or low my income is, I am the "middle class" politicians love to talk about

There is no good reason for thinking Obama will "take away your guns".|||It's amazing that gun sales have tripled during the months following November, people freaking out just cause a Democrat got elected president.

Obama has stated his full support for the right to bear arms, but that doesn't mean anyone should own guns regardless of their criminal history or mental status.

and it doesn't mean that includes machine guns/assault weapons that shoot 500 bullets at a time which is far beyond what's necessary for protection.|||It's like their retarded tea parties. Just right wing echo chamber psycho babble! They will copy and paste an article, then change all the words around.
