Better said, the screw-ups that Bush started actually set a critical stage in this country where the urgent need was to have someone experienced, strong and free from big-picture liberal agendas to bring everything back under control.



The numbers Bush left behind were still manageable back then. Now we have mushrooming debt and inefficiency, combined with that stupid stimulus and healthcare thing, and we are on the verge of losing our credit rating.

These will look like silly events in the history books at this time when something could have been done about it.

But as far as, "How Long," will depend on the global markets and trends, as well. If the whole thing starts sliding, and the dollar drops, and outside factors like Spain, Italy, Portugal join Greece in a domino effect, it is going to hard to predict. The ONLY way I see anything happening is that the money is just plain shut-off from the liberals - or it will continue in debate, spend, debate, spend, then - - ooops!

Economically it's a bit naive to claim that Obama made significant mistakes. You should remember, that part of the reason Obama was swept into office was the recession that came about during G.W. Bush's term. The country almost went into a second "great depression". Before the economy fell apart in '08, it wasn't a sure thing that Obama would win that election.



So if we can agree, that Obama inherited this recession, what would be "Obama's mistakes"?

Our debt to GDP is roughly the same it was in 2008. So that can't be a mistake.

- more bailout money as a lot of economists agree on? (1)

- should he have made sure that we get a public option with our health insurance reform? (2)

- should we have called our troops back quickly after Obama was elected in '08 ?

Well, if that is what you are asking about, these things can only be fixed with a larger Democratic majority because what cost us most of these things is the fact that the majority Democrats held until 2010 simply wasn't large enough to ensure a more progressive agenda.
