Why do people expect Obama to quickly fix something that took 4-6 years to break?

President Obama (I like the way that sounds!) stated on numerous occasions (BEFORE and AFTER the election) that the economy was not a quick fix. He never promised that it would be a quick fix.

BTW, don't try to say that the 'Democratic controlled Congress is to blame for the economy'. That statement is not true.

So, why is Obama expected to fix a problem that took 4-6 years to create? Why do people expect Obama to quickly fix something that took 4-6 years to break?Because we have become an instant society, so to speak. There were people who literally believed that all problems would magically go away at noon on Jan. 20 or shortly thereafter. You can't undo a mess in one week that took years to get into. Why do people expect Obama to quickly fix something that took 4-6 years to break?
You are being way too kind to Republicans.

Democrats didn't get to do anything the last 2 years in Congress due to the fact that it was 50/50 - NO clear majority, and being vetoed and fillibustered at every step.

And you are right - the damage due to Bush runs long and deep and will take many years to fix - if it is even possible at all!Why do people expect Obama to quickly fix something that took 4-6 years to break?Simple minds expect quick fixes. It has to take a simple minded individual to expect anything would change in less than a week. I doubt if the people asking those moronic questions really expected such a thing - they just aren't smart enough to realize they should wait until the man has been in office more than a week to start complaining about nothing.
4-6 years? Try 20 years or more. This has been in the works for decades. And you are correct, no President could turn this train wreck around in 4 or even 8 years. Both major parties are to blame and neither is going to do what needs to be done to put us back on the right track. Problem is, the vast majority of the American people are completely unable to understand the true depth of the problem and accept what needs to be done. Why do people expect Obama to quickly fix something that took 4-6 years to break?BTW, don't try to say that the 'Democratic controlled Congress is to blame for the economy'. That statement is not true.

But it is.

Before they took over, the unemployment rate was 3.87 %

Interest was a bit higher but everyone was building and buying homes

Gas was 1.72 a gallon

So no tell me again why they are not to blame? Why do people expect Obama to quickly fix something that took 4-6 years to break?
It is more than unreasonable to expect our new president to fix this nightmare overnight. However he has hit the ground running and I feel he will do his very best to help the country get back on it's feet. We should give him our support and our prayers and allow him the time to work on this.
You are a fool if you think that Bush did this. Some of the housing issues started when Jimmy Carter was president. That was 1976-80, just in case you don't know. Other issues have been years and years in the making. Example: dependence on foreign oil. Another: illegal immigration.

Why is this? Gutless politicians don't want to make unpopular decisions. Why do people expect Obama to quickly fix something that took 4-6 years to break?
Because most of the people on here are (or act) about 15 years old, have no idea how the government works, and have a completely unrealistic idea of the amount of time it takes to restore any industry. That sounds mean, but it's true.
I don't expect a quick fix. All I would like to see are proposals that will help the economy. Given past historical experience, Obama's proposals will probably have a negative effect, if any, on the economy.
I don't expect it to ever be fixed. I DO however expect hundreds of billions of more dollars to be sent to Blue States in time for the 2012 election.
The FACT is that the Democrats HAVE had control of Congress since 2006. Deal with it Lib. Do not EVER presume you can tell anyone what they can and can't say on this forum.
Because Obama is the Illuminati puppet and the Illuminate broke it for this special reason "change"

Therese going to be a hell of a lot of change but can anyone remember saying in what direction change?for the better?nope...
I don't expect him to fix it instantly, but I certainly expect him not to be taking steps that certainly will make things worse and improve nothing.
Because democrats believe that the liberal "god" obama can fix anything with a snap of the fingers.

They are out of touch with reality.
If Bush was to blame for everything then I see nothing wrong with blaming everything on Obama from the day he took office, this is the same reasoning I see Obama supporters using.
I know they ask the question out of cynicism but I praise them for their incredible faith in believing that he can do so much so quickly but caution them that they must be patient.
It has taken 70 years of Dems breaking us. Only a moron would expect anyone to fix it, let alone quickly. Keep drinking the media koolaid and it will be all right, your messiah has come!
It took longer than that to create.

Obama has it made - if things improve he will get the credit, if things get worse he blames Bush.
It took less than 4 years to fix it. They needed someone to do something to the world. And u dont know if he promised that he would fix are colony!
What are you talking about??? It only took the libs in Congress 2 years to do this damage.
It took decades for the Democrats to pass all of the lending laws that caused our current financial problems. Carter started it, and Clinton gave it a big boost.

That's what happens when you force businesses to make loans to people with no proven track record of repaying other debts, no proven income, etc.

This is the result of government sticking its nose into private business.

.
it took the democratic congress two years to break it.dont blame bush.i said it
I don't expect him to. In fact, I'm confident that he won't, this will be a wasted four years.
Most of us really dont EXPECT anything .
Only 4-6? Ronhole Raygun was on his way down鈥攚a-a-a-a-ay down鈥攂y then.
HOW OLD ARE YOU?

How old is America?

4 to 6 years you are just silly.
It took a lot more than 4-6 years to break...the mortgage problems go back to the late 90's with Clinton and the expanded CRA requiring lenders to loan to people who were not qualified for a loan. ACORN was a big player and Obama voted for it too. He was part of the problem, and you expect him to fix the problem he helpe to break? He is an illegal alien with an agenda and does not care about this country...he is still an Indonesian citizen with ties and loyalties to Kenya and his radical "cousin" Odinga," who he campaigned for with taxpayer money.
With lots of pork -- anything can be accomplished...specifically passing this bill before people have a chance to realize they're getting shafted:

Let us Democrats pass a bill that encourages growth -- encourages employment -- and encourages a turn-around in our current economic direction. We'll do that by passing a 1 trillion dollar stimulus and pump it into the economy....except for the few side appropriations that follow....

Stimulus Bill Pork:

鈥樷€楧epartment of Housing and Urban Development鈥擬anagement and Administration鈥擮ffice

8 of Inspector General鈥欌€? $15,000,000.

Why are we giving 15,000,000 to an entity that sparked this financial crisis? I'm confused. Oh, I see -- we're going to continue to give loans to people who can't afford houses -- specifically for PUBLIC and INDIAN housing.

General Services Administration鈥擥en23

eral Activities鈥擮ffice of Inspector General鈥欌€?

24 $15,000,000.

Why are we giving pay raises?

Social Security Administration鈥擮ffice of

8 Inspector General鈥欌€? $2,000,000.

What's the purpose of giving SSA money -- how does that encourage growth?

There is hereby appropriated as an additional amount

14 for 鈥樷€楪overnment Accountability Office鈥擲alaries and Ex15

penses鈥欌€?$25,000,000, for oversight activities relating to

16 this Act.

Another raise? How convenient not to combine the two??

"Environmental Protection Agency鈥擲tate

%26amp; and Tribal Assistance Grants鈥欌€?

EPA Tribal assistance? Can you clarify please??

Department of Health and Human Serv2

ices鈥擮ffice of the Secretary鈥擮ffice of Inspector

3 General鈥欌€? $19,000,000.

Contraceptives? Abortions? Hmm....not exactly an economic "stimulator".

I'm only on page 12 of 243 of the stimulus bill and have already identified approximately 100 million dollars in pork. That could be used to "build" something and supply 3 - 20 jobs, eh?

Because the Republicans think he is the messiah... not us.

They expect him to clap his hands and all if perfect.

Between delusions and partisan blinders, the Republicans are just chasing their tails.
