How many years has Obama set race relations back?

Not just Obama but everyone that has been highlighted due to his campaign, him and all his buddies.

Honestly Im serious, I grew up in an age where most of us have no relation to any slave owner, view peoples actions before the color of their skin, have friends of all shapes sizes and colors, but still get told we are racist all the time because we lack melanin.

How many years has Obama's running set us back in race relations? How many years has Obama set race relations back?I don't think it's Obama that has set race relations back, but the reaction of Americans (white and black) that have.

There are a lot of people who support him because they want change. They want a government that is inclusive of all people (rich or poor, black, white or whatever color, whatever party). I am one of those people. In order for this country to work, we have to get over the "it's us or them" mentality that we have when dealing with one another.

I am African-American, Democrat and a woman. My first choice initially was Edwards. At the time, I would not have voted for Obama because I felt that even though he had a great message, most Americans would be narrow minded and not vote for him. At no point in time did I then, or do I now consider Clinton a good candidate for president.

She is the singing the same song but in a slightly different package. I live in the NY tri-state area and saw her campaigning for senate. She is a negative candidate. If she were to become president, nothing would be accomplished because there is so much bad blood between her and the republicans. They would not be inclined to compromise with her, even if it were for the greater good.

There is a new for new blood and a new guard in politics. There is a need for change, and out of all the current candidates I feel Obama is the only one that can affect that change.

For everyone who says they are not racist, please do not kid yourselves. Unfortunately, we all have pre-conceived notions about different races. My family comes from Trinidad (I am the first born in this country) and I am actually of Spanish, Chinese, a small part African, East Indian and French European descent. Even with all of that, I still find myself making comments (whether in my head or out loud) that are offensive and racially sensitive. It's really sad and ironic, because I don't really mean it about the race as a whole, but only at the person that has angered me at the time. We are all susceptible to stereotypes.

And even in this day and age, I still get called a n****r at least once a month. And no I am not a welfare single mother. I am a happily married, college educated, and employed in the corporate sector, mother of two beautiful little girls. How many years has Obama set race relations back?
Well,I've lost count. He's definitely not all there. How many years has Obama set race relations back?Who knows, this will take time to determine. Leave it to the first black presidential candidate to go an stir the pot though eh?
1850 so 158 yearsHow many years has Obama set race relations back?I'd say about 50 years or so.How many years has Obama set race relations back?
Obama has not set race relations back at all in my point of view. Anyone who ignorantly says that all white people are racist is stupid. Some white people are racist, just like some black people are, some hispanics, some asians...everyone. We may not want to admit but each one of us has some racism in their hearts. Its human nature. I am not sure when you grew up, but how you were raised has alot of bearing on how you relate to those of a different races. Obama recieved flack for his comment about his grandmother but if we step back from it and see the bigger picture he was relating something that we as african american see all the time. So if anything he just opened up the dialogue regardless of if folks want to hear it or not.
Honestly, he has made real bad where im from, some of us that have been friends for years are tearing up 20 years of friendship over one man.How many years has Obama set race relations back?
MLK is rolling in his grave!!!!!
Over the last years, there was somewhat a taboo about race relations. And not talking about problems doesn't let them disappear.
I'm not sure about Obama, but his Guru, and his family freind and pastor has.
None. All his quest has done is reflected back that which was already there.
