What did obama say to make people think hes a racist?

I've heard alot of people call obama a racist against european-americans (white ppl) First of all he IS european, Second of all what the hell did he even say??|||Have you not heard his wife say "whitey?" Also, look up quotes from Obama's book Dreams of My Father. There are several racist quotes from him in that book. Have you never heard of Reverend Wright? Obama went to church and listened to him for 20 years. Wright is a huge racist who has said some terrible things. Obama has called Wright his mentor, and the Audacity of Hope book title was based on Obama's mentor, Reverend Wright. Wright married Obama and baptized his children. Yet, all of a sudden Obama decided to leave the church in May when he knew that he had beaten Clinton. Coincidence?|||He called his grandmother who raised him a "typical white woman". On national tv.

Let me explain something to you. I am a black woman (bi-racial). In the black community you do not talk trash about your grandmother. Any gang banger on the street corner would beat you down to the ground if you called his mother or grandmother a "typical" anything. Obama trashed out his grandmother on national tv, and I think he is a sorry excuse for a person for doing it. If you do not understand the concept and understand why that statement was totally racist, then nothing anyone is going to say is going to make a bit of difference to you.

As I said, I am bi-racial. I would no more call either of my grandmothers a "typical white" or "typical black" woman for love or money.

I was born at the end of WW2. I grew up in the sixies. I have looked racism in the face many times and I know what racism is.

|||He is not a racist. There was an email that misquoted and sometimes totally fabricated false quotations from his books. These have been used by a desperate McCain campaign to say that Obama is a Muslim or a racist. Since it is unlikely that any Obama opponent will actually read his books, the people sending the email are fairly confident that they won't be found out.

The attached factcheck article shows what the racists attributed to Obama vs what he actually said. It just goes to show how low some people are willing to sink simply because they are desperate.|||He was a member of a black Church that had a pastor that said negative things about white people. The pastor was a member of a black power movement as well at some point. This is well-known and was discussed in some detail awhile back in the media. Obama has since distanced himself from the Church and this pastor.

No, Obama is not European in any descriptive sense of the word. He is an American who is part white and part black (African). His mother was white, but was American-born as were his grandparents and so on. He also apparently has Native American (Cherokee) blood on his mother's side.

I don't consider him European. His ancestors were part European way back.

This is not the same as someone who was born in Europe or whose parents immigrated from a European country and can directly trace back where and when and so on.

|||The people who hate him twist what he says to show that he's a racist. Yes, he did refer to his grandmother as a white woman. But, she grew up in a time when blacks were looked down upon. She wasn't happy that her daughter married a black man. But she did outgrow that to some extent. Does not mean he doesn't love her any less for that. And a lot of times he'll refer to her as a white woman because he also has a black grandmother.

If you read his books and not take parts out of context you'll see that what he says is not racism as such that many are trying to make it seem. But, he explains how the racism of a lot of people he has encountered has molded what he is today.

If you do not want a racist president, you're a little too late. We've already had several.|||Let's see, he called his own grandmother a typical white person, every person he went to high school with has come out and said he did nothing but make racial excuses, his speeches before he began running are full of racial slurs, and blames the "white man" or "whitey" for the crimes the blacks commit, his latest early speech release says that he blames the white man for not funding black schools. While he was in San Fran hanging out with his millionaire friends blamed losing Pennsylvania on white people who are afraid of him because he's black.

There's more, plenty more.|||Read his two books and you will see his racism dripping along the pages. Then take a look at Black liberation theology which he practiced for 20 years. Also take a look at his wife's thesis (that is hidden by Obama until after the election ) because that is full of racism as well. |||he threw his grandma under the bus...one thing today though that really hit me..he said he could no more disown wright than he could his own white grandma...did he have to say white and grandma..and considering that his grandma is blood and wright isnt...why such a strong tie....race perhaps....he is a racist..the racial hate they say comes from palin and mccain..started with him and his own mouth..anytime something comes up he doesnt like..its cause im black....everytime...|||Patricia,

If you do not know of the racist comments that Obama has said, then you have obviously have no idea what he is all about. For Obama supporters to claim that he has never made such comments, they are either in denial, or they have not read his books, or have not thoroughly investigated into his life.

McCain/Palin 2008!|||Well I don't know if he said anything, but the fact that he's gone to a church for 20 years that was run by an extremely racist preacher and anti-semite speaks volumes about his views. He is also connected to Farrakhan who really hates white people and jews.|||He pulled ahead of Mccain in the polls. It's a defense mechanism employed by the neo-cons because they know they have a sub-par candidate that has run the most inept campaign in US history.|||He called his grandmother a "typical white person"...he should have not used his words that way...Anyhow,he also was involved a church that was/is racist,Jeremiah Wright is no man of God.|||you're kidding, right?

obama has inserted his "I'm BLACK" statement into every single speech he's ever given.

obviously you only read liberal rags and watch liberal tv.

GAD try to educate yourselves already.|||How the hell is Obama European?

As to your initial question, attending a racist church for 20 years is probably what gave people the idea.|||He was into that church that preached hate against whites for 20 years. I really can't blame whites for calling him racist, because he probably is.|||Nothing.....it's the republicans sad vain attempt to turn people away from Obama, but according to the polls....they are wasting their time.|||He's a politician who was born black .... That's all people need to make him out a racist .... It's a scare tactic .. don't vote for the bogeyman .|||

"Those other people, will tell you."

What other people, the white ones? He is full of cr*p.

McCain/Palin '08.|||you appraently have not read his book ......or seen his church

sorry no one goes to a church and listens to somethign they disagree with for 20 YEARS.....|||He said that a black liberation theologist was his "mentor".|||"Jeremiah Wright is my mentor."...for more than 20 years of his life...

Obama's Pastor: God Damn America, U.S. to Blame for 9/11

Obama's Pastor, Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Has a History of What Even Obama's Campaign Aides Say Is 'Inflammatory Rhetoric'

By BRIAN ROSS and REHAB EL-BURI

March 13, 2008

Sen. Barack Obama's pastor says blacks should not sing "God Bless America" but "God damn America."

The Rev. Jeremiah Wright has made a number of controversial statements. The Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Obama's pastor for the last 20 years at the Trinity United Church of Christ on Chicago's south side, has a long history of what even Obama's campaign aides concede is "inflammatory rhetoric," including the assertion that the United States brought on the 9/11 attacks with its own "terrorism."

In a campaign appearance earlier this month, Sen. Obama said, "I don't think my church is actually particularly controversial." He said Rev. Wright "is like an old uncle who says things I don't always agree with," telling a Jewish group that everyone has someone like that in their family.

Rev. Wright married Obama and his wife Michelle, baptized their two daughters and is credited by Obama for the title of his book, "The Audacity of Hope."

An ABC News review of dozens of Rev. Wright's sermons, offered for sale by the church, found repeated denunciations of the U.S. based on what he described as his reading of the Gospels and the treatment of black Americans.

"The government gives them the drugs, builds bigger prisons, passes a three-strike law and then wants us to sing 'God Bless America.' No, no, no, God damn America, that's in the Bible for killing innocent people," he said in a 2003 sermon. "God damn America for treating our citizens as less than human. God damn America for as long as she acts like she is God and she is supreme."

In addition to damning America, he told his congregation on the Sunday after Sept. 11, 2001 that the United States had brought on al Qaeda's attacks because of its own terrorism.

"We bombed Hiroshima, we bombed Nagasaki, and we nuked far more than the thousands in New York and the Pentagon, and we never batted an eye," Rev. Wright said in a sermon on Sept. 16, 2001.

"We have supported state terrorism against the Palestinians and black South Africans, and now we are indignant because the stuff we have done overseas is now brought right back to our own front yards. America's chickens are coming home to roost," he told his congregation.|||It might have something to do with Reverend Wright, maybe.|||I havent heard him say anything that would make him seem racist. |||I highly doubt he's a racist...he's half white...unless he wants to saw himself from the legs down....?|||he didn't say anything...

pardon me for being racist... but I think the republican white people just can't stand the fact that a person of color... even if he is half white... can have a clear shot at the presidency... considering their entire party platform is constructed on hate and "national security" - fear tactics that pit Americans against each other... the same fear that led to the McCarthy Trials and the Salem Witch hunts...

I might actually be a Republican if they actually adhered to their original party platform... one about frugality, small government and family...

Race is a construct... its fake... anyone who points it out is racist... so I'm being racist right now...

its funny... he went to church, but he was a Muslim, but he's also a communist at the same time... none of them can coincide...|||I don't know.

But as a Republican, I am going to keep calling him a racist anyways!!

I don't need facts to claim something. I can just go with the good ole' Republican instincts.|||He popped out of a white cooter..... i'm sure he loves white folks|||probably nothing. don't get caught up in it.|||people are stupid, i doubt he said anything..who cares
