It is as though those who hate Obama are angry over a half-black man running for president. I am convinced that most of the name-calling Obama haters are closet racists. How much of the opposition to Obama is motivated by racism?Great question - I'd say nearly all of the opposition to Obama is racially motivated. Sure, some right-wing wonks hate the fact that Obama is not a conservative, but very few people oppose him strictly on the issues.
Every time you hear someone say "Obama is not intellgent" or "Obama has no substance," or "Obama is not experienced enought to be president" aren't they really just saying: "a black man can't be intellgent" or "a black man can't have substance," or "a black man should not be president"?How much of the opposition to Obama is motivated by racism?
Thanks for selecting my answer.

How much of the opposition to Obama is motivated by racism?I completely disagree with you. Back when my state had a caucus for nomination for the GOP ticket in 1996 I supported Alan Keyes. I thought of all of the men running for the ticket-he had the most integrity. I would also support Colin Powell or Condoleezzaa Rice.Report Abuse
Most of it, especially those who say he is a Muslim. How much of the opposition to Obama is motivated by racism?Maxmom and Michael T gave very good responses. Yes, most of the opposition to Obama has racist undertones. Obama's record his excellent. He will be an excellent president and I am greatly looking forward to it.How much of the opposition to Obama is motivated by racism?
Yes, racism, and sexism, is alive. But I don't think it is really a motivating factor for many of the anti-Obama or anti-Hillary sentiment.
At least I hope not.
Race shouldnt matter, I have plenty of other reasons not to vote for him like his stance on issues which is what voting SHOULD be based on. Just ignore the immature commentsHow much of the opposition to Obama is motivated by racism?
The only people who are racist are those black people not voting for him because he is 50% white.
30% of it. It seems like 80% of it on Y!A, but this is a strange and scary place.
You nail the nail on the head with that one!
Now do your Homework!
From the Library of Congress:
Hillary Clinton in her one full term(6 yrs.) and another year campaigning, has authored and passed only 20 pieces of legislation in her term of six years into law. They range from naming a courthouse after Thurgood Marshall to naming a Post Office after Jonn A. O'Shea.
Obama in his first 8 Months sponsored over 820 Bills.
Introduced 233 Bills on Healthcare Reform,
125 Bills on Poverty and Public Assistance,
112 Bills on Crime Fighting,
97 Economic Bills,
60 Human Rights and Anti-Discrimination Bills,
21 Ethics Reform Bills,
6 Veterans Affairs Bills and many others.
In his First Year in the U.S. Senate, he authored 152 Bills and co-spomsored another 427. These Include: 1) the Coburn-Obama Government Transparency Act of 2006 that became Law, 2) the Lugar-Obama Nuclear Non-prliferation and Conventional Weapons Threat Reduction Act that became Law, 3) the Comprehensive Immigration Reform Act that passed the Senate, 4) the 2007 Government Ethics Bill that became Law, just to name a few.
In all, since he entered the Senate, Senator Obama has written 890 Bills and co-sponsored another 1096. I'd say he is a hard worker.
and once he is president.... all those racist pigs out there will have it broke off in their rear ends!!!! LOL!!!!!!!!!!
Nancy A did a fairly good job researching his record. Many (not all) of the things she mentioned is correct. However, don't take our word for it, do what she did and look the facts up yourself (I dare you!)
As far as racism is concerned, it's still alive and well. Look no further than right here on Y/A. There's racism, sexism, ethnic and religious hatred all working quite well here. It's a shame in the 21 century these mindless points of view still exist.
I think that is oversimplifying it...don't use this forum as your guide a lot of intelligent people have a lot of intelligent disagreements with his policies and quite frankly his lack of foreign relation experience...he is obviously a talented smart man...but I personally think he need some more experience...don't think everything is about race, as so many of his supporters have said..I thought we were beyond than in this Country..it works both ways...
Seriously...my opposition to Obama is that he is too inexperienced and ill equipped to handle the Presidency.
See...no name calling.
Some may be.
What I find baffling is that Hillary and Obama are running on virtually the same platform (95% at least) with a few minor variations.
Yes, Hillary supports continually attack Obama on here.
I mean, it's well and good to like one candidate over the other.
But, at least acknowledge they are almost identical in terms of what they would like to accomplish.
Impossible to say, but I bet a goodly number. Many people are racist even if they do not realize it.
So if Hillary gets the nomination, will Al Sharpton demand a recount? The racist card is so worn out. If voters don't like Obama it's not because of his 'lips'. Get real.
I think it is racism. All of the diatribe swe hear from the Obama haters is open racism. "He's a Mulsim" - a proven lie but the racists still repeat it. "Everyone who follows him is delusional" - meaning the racist comment that a black man couldn't possibly have intelligent mature followers. If you honestly look at all of the anti-Obama rhetoric, you can hear that it is just racist rhetoric. Those who hate Obama are disgusting bigots.
