Is Obama successfully sidelining and calling out the Republicans and gaining power over them?

I wouldn't be surprised if Democratic losses in the Midterms are lower than anticipated by the anxious media. I think Obama is slowly taking power away from the Republican blockade and conservative-leaning Fox News and the conservative radio talk show smear machine. He just had to figure out that the Republicans had ZERO interest in working with him, so he devised Plan B, and it seems to be working in his favor.

What are your thoughts? Is Obama successfully sidelining and calling out the Republicans and gaining power over them?Yes. For over a year President Obama has done everything he can to work with Republicans who have insulted him in every way imaginable. It's great to see him stand up and call them on it and he's doing it with grace, kindness, and humor. Very classy!

Obama is rated higher than Reagan was at the same point in his presidency. And Democrats didn't go on a wild lying campaign about Reagan the way Republicans have about Obama:

I have been watching his approval polls too.

If you turn the graph upside down, you are absolutely correct. Is Obama successfully sidelining and calling out the Republicans and gaining power over them? You wouldn't be surprised? Obama slowly taking power away from anything is what it's all about, sparkey. Good luck with that HOPE.
Elections are a long ways off, my suspicion is that violence in Af/Pak will become larger issue as it usually gets worse in the Summer. Unemployment rate above 8% will be bad news for the left also.Is Obama successfully sidelining and calling out the Republicans and gaining power over them? No.Is Obama successfully sidelining and calling out the Republicans and gaining power over them?
I think he's making himself look like a partisan loon. The president is supposed to support and defend all Americans, not just the ones who agree with his views.
Obama can and Obama could but he will not. Personally I wish he would stop trying to compromise with the Republicans and show some muscle.People want tough. Is Obama successfully sidelining and calling out the Republicans and gaining power over them?
My thought: Americans are getting played AGAIN.

Remember how Bush promised "limited govt." and "no nation building".........then he did the opposite..............yet "conservatives" still supported him because they hated the other party so bad.

Well now Obama got elected on a promise of "change" from the Bush years.........then he ended up continuing A LOT of Bush's policies (bailouts, wiretapping, wars, indefinite detention, state secrets arguments, lack of transparency)................yet the sheep continue to believe they are getting the "change" they voted for. (Or for some: Defending Obama simply because they hate the other side so badly........similar to Bush defenders)

But if you step back.......What is happening?? THE SAME INTERESTS are always protected, no matter which party is in power. Bush promised to be conservative and was actually a corporatist. Obama (the bigger liar in my opinion) promised to change this yet continues to pursue a corporatist state that is consolidating wealth within a few hands.

As far as that fake *** reform Obama is touting (written by none other than THE wall street whore Chris Dodd).........

A) Why did we wait almost 2 years after the "crises" to decide maybe we needed to do something about Wall Street??

B) Didn't the housing crises (created by easy credit: a product of Federal Reserve policies) precipitate the economic crises??

C) Why is the Federal Reserve being given more power in the form of a consumer protection agency (lol) when they failed so miserably the first time??

D) Why is no one discussing re-instituting Glass-Steagall as part of this reform?? (separate commercial banking from investment banking)

E) Do Democrats think Americans are going to believe CHRIS DODD (of ALL people) wrote a financial reform bill?? (considering he is one of Wall Street's favorite whores in congress.......author of AIG bonus language in original bailout etc.)

F) Does anyone in Washington have a plan to deal with all the potential losses that will stem from the unlimited line of credit given to Fannie and Freddie??
The Republicans are doing it to themselves. The predictions that Obama's extreme radical agenda will soon produce 200% inflation, nuclear terrorism by Islamofascists (until it happens, Obama's recent nuke-conference will take credit for it not happening!) the country being over-run with illegals, another doubling of the unemployment rate, stock market down another 50%, etc etc are just not happening, at least not yet, and so people are starting to think that BHO is not so bad after all. As long as things get *some* better, even if only a *little* better, or even if they stay the same but the Democrats can pass out extended unemployment benefits and delay the in-your-face immediate effects of huge tax increases, BHO will be riding higher and higher. American voters live in the moment and they vote their immediate mood.
The Republicans are gaining power now. They will most likely win this November's election.
I think you might be right.
Of course Republicans had ZERO interest in working with him, considering how Obama has so far showed no sign of negotiating. He's only worked with those that share the same interests as him and it's really not making him look good. I'm guessing you have been watching too much CNN that you believe most of America is approving of him?

In order to be a good and successful President, you have to work with both sides, not just stamp your feet and work with your side.
