I am not a supporter of many issues the Obama White House has put forth.



However, the criticism by Hannity, Limbaugh, and others of Obama's reaction to the piracy issue is down right misguided and woefully cynical.



I have have heard pundits suggest that Obama's weak showing led to emboldening the pirates to seize the ship!



This is partisanship at its most hackneyed and undermines other issues that are at play with Obama.



.Any other conservatives here believe the criticism of Obama on the piracy issue is unwarranted?I have seen lot of criticism, and I have pretty much ignored it. from my understanding of the situation, the US would require about 60 ships for just the one area that the pirates captured our ship in to provide security. having armed ships won't work, because most governments don't allow armed merchant vessels in port. being prior military, I know any military response will take a few days for planning and logistical support. and as the president, i would not have said a word. what your enemy doesn't know helps you. if he got on TV and gave a big speech about a US military response, then the pirates know what to expect. any future dealings with the pirates will require a international response. the US can't stop them alone.Any other conservatives here believe the criticism of Obama on the piracy issue is unwarranted?
I think we need to let the situation play out and see what happens

I imagine a seal team will capsize the boat, secure the captain, and take the pirates holding him into custody ending the standoff.



However, I was very unimpressed when asked about the ship being taken that he looked completely lost and diverted the question. And Hilary Clinton laughed when asked about a quick response plan - as if American lives weren't at risk here. Obama has made us look weak and he does encourage attacks on us in doing so.. but that's not a factor in this.
