How come Obama is not being credited for ending the recession?

It looks like his financial stimulus packages have worked to end the recession which began under Bush in December 2007 and cost 4 millions job before Obama even got in to office.

DOW is also nearly 10,000 after reaching 6500 in March.

SO why isn't he receiving any credit from the Republicons? How come Obama is not being credited for ending the recession? You are getting your information from the people who want to take more control over the finacial markets. If you get your news from different sources you do not get the same picture. Until people quit losing their homes and unemployment starts going down the recession is not ending.

August Foreclosures Up 18 Percent Over 2008

From consumeraffairs.com | 2009-09-11 16:02:27

Most activity still centered in a few states

The rate of foreclosure activity dipped slightly in August from the previous month, but still remains sharply higher than 2008's rate.

The latest monthly report from RealtyTrac, a foreclosure tracking firm, shows foreclosure filings - default notices, scheduled auctions and bank repossessions - were reported on 358,471 U.S. properties during the month, a decrease of less than 1 percent from the previous month but still an increase of nearly 18 percent from August 2008. The report also shows one in every 357 U.S. housing units received a foreclosure filing in August.

Poll: 80% say economy poor

WASHINGTON 鈥?One year after Wall Street teetered on the brink of collapse, seven of every 10 Americans lack confidence that the federal government has taken safeguards to prevent another financial-industry meltdown, according to a new Associated Press-GfK poll.

Even more 鈥?80 percent 鈥?rate the condition of the economy as poor, and a majority worry about their ability to make ends meet. The pessimistic outlook sets the stage for President Barack Obama as he attempts to portray the financial sector as increasingly confident and stable and presses Congress to act on new banking regulations.

The public sentiment also poses a challenge to central elements of Obama's governing agenda. Half of those surveyed said deficit reduction should be a national priority over increased spending on health care, education or alternative energy.

A year after financial crisis, a new world order emerges

The unemployment rate rose to 9.7 percent in August and is expected to peak above 10 percent in the months ahead. It's already there in at least 15 states. Regalia thinks that it could be five years before the U.S. economy generates enough jobs to overcome those lost and to employ the new workers entering the labor force.

All this is likely to keep consumers on the sidelines.

"I think this financial panic and Great Recession is an inflection point for the financial system and the economy," said Mark Zandi , the chief economist for forecaster Moody's Economy.com. "It means much less risk-taking, at least for a number of years to come 鈥?a decade or two. That will be evident in less credit and more costly credit. If you are a household or a business, it will cost you more, and it will be more difficult to get that credit."

The numbers bear him out. The Fed's most recent release of credit data showed that consumer credit decreased at an annual rate of 5.2 percent from April to June, after falling by a 3.6 percent annual rate from January to March. Revolving lines of credit, which include credit cards, fell by an annualized 8.9 percent in the first quarter, followed by an 8.2 percent drop in the second quarter. How come Obama is not being credited for ending the recession?

The dow means nothing, Were going down the crapper soon under this so called leadership! How come Obama is not being credited for ending the recession?FYI the recession is not over. The DOW is one indicator, but unemployment and the housing market are still in the dumps. And for those of you that say the housing market isn't in the dumps, the homes that ARE selling are short sales and foreclosures. Almost everyone in the country lost equity in their home and that will not be gained back any time soon. How come Obama is not being credited for ending the recession?
If you think the recession is over because of the stock market, you've got bigger problems than worrying about what kind of credit Obama is getting. Stimulus bills are temporary boosts in the economy, not long term. Do some research. As long as the Fed is still slacking credit checks and setting sub-prime interest rates we're still going to be in a recession regardless of what the stock market is doing.
How come Obama is not being credited for ending the recession? LOL!

maybe because it has NOT ended. How come Obama is not being credited for ending the recession?
His stimulus plan has done little. As of September 4th, only about 12% of the stimulus funds have been spent. See the link.

Economies can and do recover without government intervention you know. However in this case, there was significant government intervention with the bank and auto bailouts. Those would have far more to do with the recovery than the limited stimulus spending.

Who started the bank and auto bailouts again?
K, where do you live, because right now I'm laid off, im about a week away from being kicked out of my house, and as much as I hoped for "Change" I didn't think it would cost me everything i have, those stimulus packages never even reached my business, so where r you cause I wanna be their!
It's easy to sign a stimulus bill.

Obama signed that.

Millions of Americans are going to pay for this billion dollars debt and you want to credit THE Mighty OBAMA for that? haha
Because the recession has not ended. Obama hasn't done anything good since he's been in office. Unemployment is still at a record high and businesses are still closing at a record rate.

You're getting your information from Wall Street.......didn't you know those guys are all messed up?
The president is not being credited, because he hasn't done anything to end the recession. The recession is NOT over. The feds have totally cooked the books and what you are seeing in the mainstream news are complete fabrications. You need to understand that this is not about the president, and is something far bigger and more corrupt that transcends party lines completely. This is not a conservative or liberal issue. What was done under Bush has been continued under Obama. It is all one grand plan. The big bankers right now want to prevent panic, hence what you are hearing reported. In fact, the actual statistics are, that unemployment is far above ten percent, and the end of the US dollar is in sight; an environment that could eventually see massive inflation of the dollar.
Because their expertise is in destroying the economy, not fixing it.

Obama is Right!!

Quit believing GOP scare tactics, they only care about getting back in office.

Which they won't.

Vote Dem, ALWAYS!!
Because the republicans KNOW better. That idiot is doing nothing but about to destroy this country. Did you see the book he was carrying to the plane on his vacation with his family? It was a book on how to destroy America. Do some research on it. That man deserves no credit whatsoever! He needs to be impeached.

Oh, has anyone seen this website?

islamoncapitolhill.com

Considering this country was founded on Christian beliefs (has nothing to do if your not a Christian, I'm not starting a debate here) this has to be the scariest thing I've ever seen and we can thank the "president" for that.

And dont even get me started on the senseless health care crap he's trying to get passed
