During the elections, they stated that 95% of black people voted for Obama. If Obama and McCain had the same colored skin, would Obama still have won?If Obama and McCain were the same race, would Obama still have won?well they are the same race- the human race
I understand what you are asking though and if Mr. Obama were a white man then he would have won by a bigger margin.
If Mr. McCain were a black man, he never would have run, his party would have disowned him and shut him up before he could get to the primaries... divorced, had an affair, married to a recovering addict and alcoholic, not much education, finished in the very bottom of his class, member of the keating 5, serious anger management problems, having a running mate with an unwed pregnant teenager.
I am "white" (native american, scots, irish) I voted for Senator Obama, not because of his ethnicity but because of his policies. If Obama and McCain were the same race, would Obama still have won?
I think so. Blacks vote 95% Democratic anyway. Obama's skin color has nothing to do with it.
McCain was very well-respected in 2000 when he was a real maverick. He won the New Hampshire Primary and the party destroyed his candidacy with a smear campaign. After that he became a cheerleader for the Bush agenda. His biggest problem in this election was that he wasn't able to distance himself from Bush, he wasn't able to shake off the bad smell of Bush's perceived failures.
Committed Democrats, including most blacks, would have voted Democratic anyway. But a lot of swing voters weren't voting for Obama as much as they were voting against Bush. That's why Obama won, not because of his skin color. If Obama and McCain were the same race, would Obama still have won?I'm pretty sure. If (for instance) Al Gore had ran against McCain in this election, I'm sure the voter turn out for young people and black voters would not have been as high as expected. I'm sure a Black Voter would not have cared if 2 white people were running against each other, regardless of party affiliation. Let's face it. If a white candidate had the same attitude Obama did, I'm sure it wouldn't off brought in as many voters as it did with Obama.
Yes, blacks only made up 13% of the vote. Not to mention blacks typically vote democratic anyway. Also you have to take into account all the people who DIDN'T vote for Obama specifically because he was black, and who might have voted for him otherwise. Over 75% of Obama votes were from white peopleIf Obama and McCain were the same race, would Obama still have won?I heard it was 60 some odd percent of Whites voted for him......
I don't think he would have won. The election electorals were fixed, in my opinion. More than half of the states weren't finished voting before the electorals came in.... kind of fishy. Either way, McCain would have won if Obama was of white race, and we all know it. So people need to stop being in denial. If Obama and McCain were the same race, would Obama still have won?
No..blacks do not support conservatives for the most part..I voted for Alan Keyes in 2000 and there was no huge amount of support from him except for conservative blacks. Unfortunately guys like Alan Keyes and Michael Steele are not race baiters so they were not popular with Democrats black or white.
Less than 13% of this nation is black. Even if 100% of the black community backed Obama, they would still need to rely on many other races and ethnicities to garner a victory. This victory transcended race.If Obama and McCain were the same race, would Obama still have won?
Exit polls suggest that race was a minor issue. The main issues affecting the democrat vote seemed to be Sarah Palin, the economy, and George Bush.
No doubt, by even more votes.
There were far more white men who voted McCain instead of Obama just because he was mixed race than there were black people who voted for him...period.
Someone that graduated top of his class in Harvard versus someone that graduated bottom of his class? His race hurt him deeply. Look at all the ignorant red necks on this site alone with their hate.
I think so. Bushes approval ratings plus the economy killed the GOP ticket. That and Palin being an idiot.
It would have given him a much better chance. If race wasn't an issue people may have put more thought into their policies and beliefs. I think that would have been a fight McCain could have won.
Yes Obama would still beat McCain who's just too old and has lousy
decision making abilities, i.e. Pallin.
McCain handed over the elction when Palin entered the race!
No, I think even though no one wants to admit it, race played a HUGE part in this election and its hard to say if obama would have won or not
American ~ Pop. 40 million Blacks
America's full pop. 305 Million people
40/305= 13%
- amount of kids, felons, non voters = Less then the amount of white voters.
Yes. 95% of black people always vote DEMOCRAT! They voted for Bill Clinton didn't they?
Yes. With even more votes.
Yes.
People were ready for a change. They didn't care the color packaging it came in.
No, McCain is a war hero who loves this country. He would have won.
NO
