Lets not pretend that all Democrats agree with Obama after what they saw happen in Massachusetts. Its unlikely they will submit again to the arm twisting and bribes previously used to get them to all agree. Is Obama going to discuss health care with Republicans and Democrats who disagree with him?Republicans need to be on their toes and aggressive in the meeting, and not let it devolve into a question and answer session with the president hogging the mike. He asked for a meeting, not a lecture or a media conference, and Republicans need to demand equal time to present their ideas.
The Republicans need to make the cost-cutting part of the health care summit about tort reform, constantly raising the subject as the counter to the president's proposed $500 billion cut in Medicare.
Then Republicans need to discuss other cost-saving measures, such as allowing health insurance to be sold across state lines and other measures to encourage competition.
Republicans should also zero in on the need for more doctors if we are to expand the number of patients covered. They must articulate the conclusion so much of the nation has come to (but official Washington has never embraced) that you cannot have more patients without more doctors unless you want to impose rationing.
In Massachusetts, where Mitt Romney inflicted a version of Obamacare on the state, the waiting time to see a doctor in Boston is now 63 days. They need to stress that any rationing will be felt primarily by the elderly and will lead to premature deaths.
Repeatedly, the president has fashioned the GOP as the party of "no," goading them by saying, "If you have any ideas, bring them on."
Well, let them do it. o_OIs Obama going to discuss health care with Republicans and Democrats who disagree with him?
It will fail because he's going to focus on getting things "back on track". He doesn't understand that not only is his plan ineffective, it's hopelessly corrupt. Rather than telling people to get on board, he should be asking them why he f'ed up so badly and how he can do a better job next time.Is Obama going to discuss health care with Republicans and Democrats who disagree with him?Obama wants a "photo op" that's all it is. The Republicans need to refuse and tell him to put the meetings and debates on C-SPAN like he "promised".
It's going to be more of him dictating policy and bribing enough Republicans to guarantee a pass of "health care".Is Obama going to discuss health care with Republicans and Democrats who disagree with him?Obama is looking at anything that will turn the polls around. His plan to dialogue with the Republicans is going nowhere because he remains inflexible about preserving a bill he couldn't even pass with a super majority. Is Obama going to discuss health care with Republicans and Democrats who disagree with him?
Republicans won't sit down with Obama on heathcare unless he starts from zero.
we have best health in the world !
Obama has continue talks so the public will understand ! because so many are confused !
and some of these people in government want to steal are tax's dollars instead of help us !
give obama a chance and a listen ! the truth will out! that what he's doing !
and if he does not prove him self do not vote for him in 2011!
why didn't they put Bush under microscope! because allot of that war money were using as wright off !!
to there houses look like yours!!Is Obama going to discuss health care with Republicans and Democrats who disagree with him?
Democrats need more candidates that look good in the buff.
This poor sap doesn't know when to quit. There's no way in hell either party will entertain health care before the November elections.
Right now, 0bama couldn't muster up enough votes from the democrats to pass health care. It's dead, and he refuses to allow it to fade away.
That is the plan as I understand it, the discussion. If all democrats agreed with Obama, this would haver been a done deal last august. It would have been a good bill that would have been beneficial to all americans.
Instead, they tried bi-partizanship with people who were not interested even after they successfully gutted it.
Health Insurers Owe Policyholders, But Pay Congress Instead
In total, health insurance companies' PACs and employees have given 25 members of the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation $3.3 million in campaign contributions since the 1990 election cycle, with 53 percent of that going to Democrats*.

Obama is only open to opinions that Pelosi agrees with...haven't you figured that out yet?.....Pelosi runs the show and Obama is the media spokes person for the democratic party....pure politics
Nope. He's simply going to try roping some Republicans in so they can be blamed for the bill.
THAT is why it isn't passed yet. Democrats are ALWAYS loath to pas any bill they cannot blame on Republicans.
He just needs to explain his position one more time, then everyone will realize the error of their ways and agree with him.
This discussion isn't going to be anything more than Obama putting the republicans 'in their place'. After making sure we know that this whole mess is our fault, all of it and throwing in some blame Bush lines he's going to become ozzingly sweet while wearing an arrogant smug smile and his chin up in the air. In the end then, when the whole thing crashes he's going to blame this party.
Pelosi Aide Says Healthcare Summit A FRAUD-Dems Already Decided On Ramming Bill Through
Those who believe the President's latest move toward bi-partisanship is a political "slight-of-hand" may very well be correct. In In comments reported by the subscription only Congress Daily, the most powerful Woman in the World, Nancy Pelosi鈥檚 top health care aide Wendell Primus admitted top Democrats have already decided on the strategy to pass the Senate's pro-abortion, government-run health care bill. In fact he says Obama's latest "friendly gestures" is all a trick
The basic plan is Pelosi will twist arm to get the house to pass the Senate bill, plus another bill representing changes to that Senate bill that the leadership of both houses have already agreed to. The Senate will then use reconciliation to pass that second bill. And the President will sign first the Senate bill and then the bill with the changes. The bi-partisan heath-care summit is simply a charade says Primas.

No
President Obama already HAS discussed health care (and also needed insurance reforms) with both Republicans and Democrats who each have their own opinions and ideas for what is and is not needed. He met with 140 Republicans just last week at their retreat (C-SPAN has the best review, because there are no opinions or commercials), and he took unscripted questions from them. He invited both Democrats and Republicans to the White House on several occasions trying to get them to offer ideas and meet each other halfway. Republicans do not WANT to meet halfway---they want things THEIR way, which is the same old same old...the status quo, with the possible exception of letting the already-antitrust-violating insurance industry expand across state lines without restriction or oversight---no cost containments, no prohibition of denying coverage for pre-existing conditions, no consumer protections at all---just more corporate greed (well paid for I'm sure with campaign bribes...er...donations). We need insurance reforms. We need health care reforms. We need cost containment overall. On TV cameras, everyone agrees. However, off camera, the GOP is treacherous and greedy for playing one-upsmanship in an election year. Some Democrats (like Max Baucus) are kissing up to lobbyists (opensecrets.org) and are not acting in the best interests of the American people. Right now, I think the Democrats should just use Reconciliation (51 votes in the Senate) to push regulatory reforms through on the 1300 for-profit out-of-control-with-greed insurance industry, and then push to get the health care portion passed in whichever way possible. If the GOP wants to help, fine---but if they keep trying to block needed consumer-friendly changes, then they should just be bypassed. They are TREACHEROUS and they are in the back and front pockets of CORPORATIONS, just as they've always been.
TO: bmovies6 - There is NO "pro-abortion" bill---that is pure D propaganda. Both bills pending have NO FEDERAL FUNDING FOR ABORTION (ReadTheBill.org)!
If all Dems had agreed with Obama it would have passed long before Massachusetts.
However, yes, he will discuss it, but only the 'final bill' he and the Dems want.
He should. Both sides want costs to come down Only democrats want the government to be the answer.
Hes discussing it with both sides, if the Republicans will consent to it.
Which is rather mystifying, after all if the president wants to talk to you, I've never heard of giving him a nonnegotiable list of demands that have to be met first, unless they are kidnappers.
Is it possible to kidnap a nation?
I thought he said he; "heard the people and jobs was his priority..".
Obama is about a year late for a meaningful dialog.
His idea of a discussion is "I talk, you obey"
He would not even consider what the Republicans had to say about the health care, and they were finally just locked out of the process.
no... the way congress works... when sewing together a bill is you add money bribes to the bill for cooperation... obama cant add what repubs want because it wud allso mean dumping what he wants.... most of wat dems and obama want is not exceptable its just another way to rob the american people... i dont expect dems to change so they just need to be thrown out of office.
All he wants to do is get a captive audience and insult them to make himself look good with all his LIES....
Yeah. Actually some democrats were much happier when the proposed legislation contained the public option. After removing it, that made a lot of Democrats turn away from the proposed bills.
That is only for photo op purposes, he is not going to listen to anyone, cause Pelosi and Reid told him to fake it long enough to get that Healthcare Scam sneaked in , in the middle of night. Criminals is what they are.
A real president would take the lead and listen-----Obama won't listen and will try to force it down the GOP throats just like he is doing to All Americans.
Probably be another "Sermon" the guy tends to lecture which won't work with the room full of bloated egos he'll be speaking "too". I don't think he really want constructive ideas just more interested in a dog and pony show for his base and the voting public. I'll be watching this one with interest as I think his true colors will come thru on this one.
He'll discuss it yes. He may not listen to anything but liberal suggestions, but he'll discuss it.
He's going to put them in their place and debunk all their rhetoric on live television!
Let's see how many Reps he knocks out....can't wait!
What other president in History has ever done that?
