The Fetus is incapable of surviving at all at the point that the issue is referring to. The deserts and rivers thing I am not familiar with, but frankly, it sounds like something that was taken way out of context and blown way out of proportion by paranoid repubs, just like the first issue. Obama wasn't talking about killing a baby that could survive on it's own and grow. In some cases with abortion, the fetus, which normally is not at a stage where it could survive on it's own and doesn't resemble a child at all yet, because abortions are rarerly performed beyond the first trimester, is still alive when it comes out, but would not live long without intervention. He's just saying at that point doctors should not try to keep it alive. It wouldn't make sense if they did, since the intent was to abort the fetus, and it would soon die anyway, and if it did somehow live and grow into a child, it would already be horribly traumatized and damaged by the abortion process! I'm not promoting abortion, I think it's a very difficult issue that should not be taken lightly, but if a person did make that choice, it just wouldn't make sense to save the traumatized fetus afterwards.



As for the part about lakes and deserts, I've never heard that but it doesn't make sense. What is this about Obama using deserts and rivers for dirt biking and not feeding babies?@venheth

Thank you for the link, I read it all and what he was saying about abortions was purely on a law/lawyer basis, how it was written and what could be done with that law. He wanted to make sure women had the right to choose, it was never about not feeding babies!



As for the dirt bikes - sounds like he was asked a question at a ralley and his statement was, again, taken out of context!
The abortion stance is completely true. Obama is even more liberal than NARAL on this issue, more liberal than Nancy Pelosi, and several other Democrats in Congress. He has voted against protection for babies born alive in IL.
