Giving a speech is an action, rising unemployment is an effect.

If the speech helps to calm things in the Middle East, great. Very likely to succeed in my opinion.



However, Unemployment will only rise if

1. The real estate market picks up

2. People have less debt and actually start saving

3. Banks know what their counterparties assets are worth and start lending

4. Companies that produce things that are uneconomical go under and new companies with products that have a future get allocated that money that would have been wasted on the old bankrupt companies.

5. Instead of spending money on wars in the Middle East, the US government spends on infrastructure in their own country.



None of this can be addressed with a speech, it takes a piecemeal approach and time. Does'nt matter who the President is.Do you agree the Obama Cairo speech more important than rising unemployment?LOL.



His speech was a joke. A few good points muddied down by apologies for America and platitudes about Islam that ignore the radical threat that has killed people in every Western country in the world....
