Should Obama hold a telethon to try to reduce the national debt?

I know there was a movie like this, "Americathon," during the Carter years.



Could Obama do it? Would it take in more than the Jerry Lewis telethon? What acts would appear?Should Obama hold a telethon to try to reduce the national debt?I guess that's an idea, but Americans already have the option to "check the box" on their tax forms to make a donation to pay down the debt.
